It should come as no surprise, that the key to Vermont’s charm in terms of politics is it’s unfettered access to governmental leadership.  Perhaps in this day and age it is a surprise! A marvel held by many new Vermonters or transplants from other regions of the country is the access state representatives, senators, house speakers, lobbyists and yes, even the Governor, who can be seen driving to work just like the rest of us.

The Bennington Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted over 200 of its members and stakeholders at its annual meeting, The Mix and Mingle, held at Bennington College this past Friday.

Starting a business can be intimidating, overwhelming - even risky. But here in The Shires of Vermont, the prospect of entrepreneurship becomes much less daunting when you consider the community full of resources and support committed to helping you succeed.

On Thursday night, the Shires Young Professionals chose Bennington’s new nightlife hotspot, Miller’s Toll Dinner Club and Lounge, to announce a reinvigorated mission and brand. 

In partnership with the area Chamber of Commerce, the former Bennington Young Professionals group has been working behind the scenes over the past few months to develop a new look and strategy.  A new logo and website have been launched, and a new mission statement, vision, and goals were shared at the event.

Last week I had the opportunity to speak to the Hildene Board of Directors.  I shared with them our 2020 Vision and how the Chamber wants to work over the coming years...

Over the past couple weeks in preparation for Garlicfest, I’ve thought a bit more about effective leadership characteristics – perhaps because of all that’s going on in the world... 

This past week we had the pleasure of hosting our annual legislative luncheon, something we’ve rebranded as Business and Legislation. 

“Bennington Made,” a local series developed by The Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce and CAT-TV was named as a Top 5 Finalist in the 3rd Annual Chamber Innovation Award Competition.
