BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College (SVC) has been ranked the 25 th best

regional college in the north. The report was announced by the annual U.S. News &

World Report Best Colleges for 2019.

The Manchester Business Association and the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce have reached an agreement under which the MBA will work with the chamber as its liaison in the Northshire and both organizations will help each other attract and serve members. 

Acclaimed artists have long sought inspiration in the natural beauty and bucolic communities of Bennington county, and the region’s growing creative landscape is poised to play a pronounced role in shaping the economy, identity, and community of the Shires.

As part of this year’s Battle of Bennington celebrations, the Bennington Fire Department and the Daughters of the American Revolution (Ormsby Chapter) with support from the Bennington Regional Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to present the inaugural “Battle of the Pies.”

Manchester, VT: The Manchester Music Festival’s opening night concert on Thursday, July 12th at the Southern Vermont Arts Center will feature three virtuoso guest artists performing works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and an original composition by Artistic Director Adam Neiman. Joining Neiman on stage at the Arkell Pavilion will be acclaimed musicians Vadim Lando, clarinet; Stefan Milenkovich, violin; and Amit Peled, cello. Curtain is at 7:30PM.

On Thursday night, the Shires Young Professionals chose Bennington’s new nightlife hotspot, Miller’s Toll Dinner Club and Lounge, to announce a reinvigorated mission and brand. 

In partnership with the area Chamber of Commerce, the former Bennington Young Professionals group has been working behind the scenes over the past few months to develop a new look and strategy.  A new logo and website have been launched, and a new mission statement, vision, and goals were shared at the event.

The Independent Television Festival (ITVFest) called “the Sundance of independent television,” welcomes thousands of attendees to the Green Mountains of Vermont for five days of screenings, lively panel discussions, and networking events with some of the television industry’s best independent producers, content creators, and executives.

The Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce, serving the Shires of Vermont region, is one of three communities selected by the Department of Tourism and Marketing to pilot a new initiative entitled, Stay to Stay Weekends.
